FAQs & Safety

Here you can find answers to some frequently asked questions. For any others please fill out our quick question form to ask.

Do I need to be fit to attend a men's retreat?

The retreat includes walking, light-to-moderate movement (Tai Chi, Yoga), hands-on craft and optional cold water exposure. Activities are adaptable. You do not need to be highly athletic. You should be reasonably mobile and comfortable spending time outdoors. Medical disclosures are confidential and allow us to ensure safety.

What should I bring to a 4-day men's retreat?

Clothes suitable for the outdoors and variable British weather, comfortable layers, sturdy footwear for walking on farmland, and a willingness to step away from your phone. Everything else — accommodation, meals, facilitated sessions and equipment — is provided. A full kit list is shared once your place is confirmed.

Is cold water exposure mandatory?

No. Cold water exposure is optional. It is offered as a practical resilience tool, not a test of toughness. Participants are fully briefed and supported.

What is the group size?

Each cohort is limited to 10 participants. This ensures depth of conversation, psychological safety, individual attention and a cohesive group dynamic. The retreat is deliberately small.

Will I be expected to share personal details?

No one is pressured to disclose anything. Facilitated conversations are structured and voluntary. Many participants find value in speaking openly — but participation is always your choice.

Are phones completely banned?

Phones are not confiscated. However, participants are strongly encouraged to minimise use. The aim is reduction of noise, not enforcement. Emergency contact arrangements are in place if required.

Where are retreats held?

Retreats are hosted in carefully selected rural UK venues. Locations are chosen for privacy, natural landscape, quality accommodation and suitability for small groups. Full details are provided upon booking.

What is included in the price?

Price includes three nights' accommodation, all meals, all facilitated sessions, craft materials and movement. Travel to the venue is not included.

What makes The Rural Reset different from other men's retreats in the UK?

Most men's retreats in the UK sit at one of two ends of a spectrum — either heavily therapeutic and emotionally intensive, or outdoor adventure-focused. The Rural Reset occupies different ground: structured but not pressured, physically active but not a bootcamp, grounded in nature and craft rather than ceremony or group therapy. The rural Herefordshire setting, the small cohort size, the hands-on craft element and the deliberate four-day arc make it a genuinely distinct option for men who want substance without performance.

What is your refund policy?

Deposits secure your place and are non-refundable. If you need to withdraw, we will make reasonable efforts to transfer your place to a future retreat where possible. Full policy details are provided at booking.

Is the retreat religious or spiritual?

No. The Rural Reset is secular. Practices such as Tai Chi and breathwork are used for their physical and nervous system benefits — not spiritual framing.
