Nature walk on our 4-day retreat for men
The Retreat Experience

Four days built around nature, practical craft and the outdoors — enough structure to hold you, enough space to breathe. A private chef looks after the food throughout, because being properly looked after is part of what makes the rest possible.

Each reset follows a clear and deliberate four-day plan — enough structure to hold you, enough space to breathe.

Day 1 — Arrival & Welcome

You arrive to a quiet, private stretch of Herefordshire countryside. No rush — just a walk across the grounds to settle in, and the start of a rural craft project you’ll work on throughout your stay. Something to make with your hands while your mind slows down. As evening falls, we gather by the fire with someone who’s been through their own difficult chapter, talking honestly about it. Not a lecture — a conversation.

Day 2 — Movement & Craft

Mornings start gently: cold water and Tai Chi, if you want them — neither is compulsory. Then a hike through the Brecon Beacons and a picnic lunch on the mountain. Back at the house, you pick your craft project up again. Yoga in the afternoon, a proper dinner from the chef, and music by the fire for anyone still talking.

Day 3 — Deepening

A similar rhythm to start, then kayaking — quiet, focused, a good way to think without trying to. In the afternoon you finish your craft piece. By this point, most men notice the conversations have changed. Less small talk, more honesty.

Day 4 — Closing & Return

A final walk gives you space to think about what you’re taking home — not a list of resolutions, just some clarity about what matters and what you want to do differently.

The Setting & Accommodation

The Rural Reset takes place at Wormsley Grange, a renovated country house set in 4.5 acres of private grounds in the Herefordshire countryside. Individually designed rooms, plenty of space for the group, and beyond the walled garden, over 200 acres of farmland and ancient woodland to walk in.

What’s Included:

  • Three nights’ accommodation at a private Herefordshire estate
  • All meals, cooked by a private chef
  • Movement sessions (Tai Chi, yoga) — entirely optional
  • Guided rural craft throughout your stay
  • A hike in the Brecon Beacons and a kayaking session
  • Time by the fire, structured and unstructured
  • A small group — ten men, no more

Phones aren’t banned. We just help you put them down for a few days so you can actually be somewhere.

Safety & Our Role

We take safety seriously: public liability insurance, proper risk assessments, emergency procedures and experienced facilitators are all in place. It’s worth being clear about what The Rural Reset is and isn’t — this isn’t therapy, and it isn’t a clinical programme. If you’re currently going through a mental health crisis, this probably isn’t the right moment for a Reset. Get in touch and we’ll talk it through honestly, and point you toward the right support if we’re not it.

What You Might Notice Afterwards

We don’t promise transformation, and we’re wary of anyone who does. What tends to happen is simpler: a clearer head, a bit more perspective on work and the people you’re responsible for, and a few honest conversations you didn’t expect to have. What matters most isn’t how you feel on day four — it’s how you’re doing a few months from now.

Participants leave with:

  • Clearer thinking
  • Improved emotional steadiness
  • Reduced physical tension
  • Practical tools for stress regulation
  • Rebalanced perspective on work and responsibility

The aim is not dramatic transformation.
It is sustainable resilience.
